Hi All

Is anyone else on Humira without any other DMARDS?

I couldn't tolerate MTX, and sulfasalazine gave me massive headaches and now Leflunomide is also giving me too many side effects.

I know ideally you need one of the DMARDS, but is anyone else just using humira on its own successfully? I'm still weaning down the steroids, but they'd like me to re-try Leflunomide - which I did for 3 days last week; but it made me really sick and ill (zero quality of life!). I've had them before but not as bad as that. I am thinking that maybe next week I'll try them again...... but somewhat anxious as I go to Majorca next week too!!!

So any comment from anyone on Humira alone would help... has it stopped you getting any flares?

Todays the first day I haven't needed the anti-sickness tablets!!! I've had a really good month since not taking anything except the humira but want to know if it will last?? (Been on humira 9 months now).

Hi, I am on Enbrel onlyand reducing my steroids from 2mg to 1mg after 6 years on this dose.
It is proving quite difficult. I was told last week that some peoples sjrogens eye problems improve on Enbrel.
Something must be working at last. I think the Doctors prefer to give Methotrexate with anti TNF but not always
if not tolerated before. As in another link, it's YOUR decision finally to stick to what you want to take. Hope
this helps. The Enbrel has made all the difference for me. Take care Anne T

Hi

I am on Humira on its own as I couldn't tolerate Humira and MTX together. I had an unltrasound after 6 months on it which showed a massive improvement on what things were like before. I've been on it a year and am OK, although, like you I do get apprehensive about being on it without anything else.

Hi Anne,

I`m on humira without any DMARDs, since having to stop MTX about three years ago. It`s worked just as well on its own, and has made a huge difference to me. As long as this is the case my consultant is happy not to throw anything else in.

MTX on its own did nothing for me, but I didn`t have any side effects from it until combined with humira, when I ended up in hospital with chest problems. A process of elimination found the MTX was to blame, so it was stopped, and things have been fine since then.
